Vote yES on Binding Arbitration
Take politics out of public safety PAY DECISIONS
to put independent experts in charge of first responder wages, not politicians.
What is binding arbitration?

If the County and the unions are unable to reach agreement, any unresolved disputes are sent to a neutral Board of Arbitrators. This Board is composed of independent experts who conduct public hearings and expedite proceedings to reduce costs.

After reviewing the final proposals from both sides, the Board determines fair wages and benefits, ensuring an impartial and unbiased process.
Why do we need binding arbitration?

Encourages Fair Treatment & Pay for Public Safety Employees
LA County Firefighters and Deputy Sheriffs deputies risk everything to keep us safe. With the daily dangers they face, we owe them fair treatment and fair pay. Binding arbitration helps ensure the pay, benefits, and staffing they need to do their jobs and protect our communities.

Creates A Fair Negotiation Process
County public safety officers like firefighters and deputy sheriffs aren't allowed to strike because doing so would put public safety at risk. Binding arbitration gives them a fair process to negotiate for fair pay and ensures that the public remains protected.

Removes Politics from Pay Decisions
Public safety should not be a political bargaining chip. Binding arbitration puts pay decisions in the hands of neutral experts who can focus on what's fair and keep politics out of decisions.
First Responders aren't allowed to strike
Binding Arbitration would give them a fair process to negotiate their wages, and require the County to negotiate in good faith.
